Been keeping this under wraps for a year! Finally, it is ready to make an appearance to the world.
3 enamel pin designs are ready to be adopted via Etsy More editions are well underway, but for now, these are ready to look for new homes. Find them on instagram too! @pocketwondersdesign In collaboration with Gan Sher Rhie, a talented artist and fashion designer, I've teamed up with various photographers to shoot her delicate, beautifully curated fashion pieces. Modelling courtesy of Carmen Loke. Her fashion collection themed as Mayhem, is inspired by Pablo Picasso's painting - the Weeping Woman. The colors in the looks are a representational of a person's emotions. The paintings on the pieces depict the artist's impression on suffering and sadness. The photoshoot was planned and themed to follow the lookbook style. The model was directed to pose in a moody yet subtle chaotic setting that does not overpower the garment. We make use of a lot of sunlight that are diffused through windows to create an enclosed feeling towards the mood of the garment. It somehow presents a hopeful yet still depressed mood. I used a Sony a6500 with a Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens to capture the shots. I choose that lens to capture the context of the environment with the model to tell a whole story. It has a 1.8 aperture which does really well to capture close up shots of the model by providing a good depth of field. All photos were post edited using Lightroom. I've added matte onto the photos to give a softer look to the shadows. The highlights were toned down to give a softer feel to the skin of the model as well as the garments, to enhance the softness of the materials. The reason for the softness is to show vulnerability in suffering.
Nu Skin Malaysia came to us with a project about an animated tutorial video for their product. With story provided by Nu Skin, we refined and tweaked to the best way to present the animation. The target audiences are the Malay women ethnic group in Malaysia. It was a huge debate and dilemma to choose whether to use Illustrator or OpenToonz to animate the frames due to time constraint. Having just picked up and experimented with OpenToonz through self learning, I did have doubts has to whether I can accomplish it. Anyways, glad I choose to go ahead and use OpenToonz. I really like the programme now. My colleague, Nicole Yong colored my frames using Illustrator. We've decided to use blue as a contrasting color from the background to make the model stand out and to give her a relaxing aura. As client does not have products in illustration form, we illustrated the products to fit it into the style. A semi realistic style was decided to appeal to older target audiences. Team Work:

The idea is to interact with audiences in real time and let their decisions influence the path of the live video. As seen in the video above, I've animated a looping home screen. This screen is to let audiences vote for the houses that they would like to enter. Each house contains different characters with different prizes and trivias. A test animation for one of the penguins which I had tons of fun animating it. Team Work:

Using their existing mascot, we came up with the idea of using a combination of real life stop motion (the mascot) and illustrated environment. The story was provided by KOSÉ and was refined and tweak after discussions to bring it to life in the final product. Color palettes of pastels were chosen to show gentleness, softness and cuteness. To convey expressions to Setsuko's fixed face, we used symbols and captions on screen, much like cartoons. In Setsuko's dream/imagination, a hazier effect was done for the dreamlike visual. Watch it again!

Working with Mainstream Online Buzz (Agency), we proposed a campaign to send students "Booster Packs - Pizza Delivery!" to help encourage and motivate them in their studies. I've designed a series of posts for Taylor's University's Facebook page for this campaign. I wanted to create a fun and "nonsensical" feel for the postings to alleviate the feeling of stress. Drawing inspirations and feels from memes, Rick and Morty, Simpsons, a few Japanese anime, comics, platform games, I refined the concept, illustration and idea into visuals. The idea is to have a character battling through waves of book invasion to deliver pizzas for students. I've kept the character simple in lines, so it stands out from the chaotic happenings in its world. Using main color palettes of primary colors, it is to give it a feeling of confidence, bold, determination, fearlessness. And more ratio in Yellow - for the fun, cheery aspect. Blue for the words, for easy reading (because majority in visuals are warm colors - the contrast moves your eyes there.) and to balance out the colors in the visuals. I've kept the background to be in a cool yellow, as the main front components are in warmer tones - makes the front stand out. It's a never ending battle happening in this chaotic world, but even in that, the character never gives up and is determined to deliver pizzas to students! I've given the character some weapons made out of pencil and eraser to fight off the books. The pizza box ship is another funny impromptu idea which happened when I thought ketchup and mustard bottle look like exhaust pipes.
In conjunction to Clarks' 190th Anniversary, a celebration event was held. Working with team MOB, we came up with a series of design for printed buntings and web visuals to feature their iconic desert boots. Each boot has their own illustration elements that depict its theme.
